This is a first in the UK bringing together AcroYoga and acrobatics with Contact Improvisation

Joerg – I wonder how much of those rather precise and fragile balances the flying person experiences in acroyoga can be translated into CI positions on someone’s pelvis and centre? I’ve developed some material that uses the intelligence of the underdancer’s legs (using the acroyoga postion of the supporter) I call it pediplulation material. Maybe the CI pelvis/

centre area can learn from the intelligence of supporting and manipulating feet in acroyoga. In general I’d like to find more curiosity in CI for moments of fine balances in almost stillness, exploring how minimal shifts can change a lot: joy outside of a continuous flow.

Jaqui – Question: how to combine spontaneity and fluidity with force and agility? How to move and interchange from base to flyer to base and how we combine the themes of trust and connection through movement into and out of fragile balances or points of touch . . .

 We will present the Players Deck, a series of 108 cards that will expose human collaborations to their potential the weekend will cover, partner stretches, flying therapeutics, supine foot & hand balances, counter balances and trios. The imagination and prowess for yumminess and play is infinite!

This offering is ideal for the yoga and acroyogi with both experience and confidence in their practice and more importantly an openess and willingness to share and learn from each other.

Friday  – Touching Base: Getting to know you

We aim to establish what the groups strengths and challenges are and visit the principles of honest clear communication and safe play. This workshop will act as a teaser for weekend offering.


Saturday –  Stretch, fly and collaborate 

We aim to establish what the groups strengths and challenges are and visit the principles of honest clear communication and safe play. This workshop will act as a teaser for weekend offering.

Sunday – Play to your potential

This day will focus on the randomness of pulling out the cards to develop washing machines and sequences, as well as play games with them such as:

  • pass the flyer
  • flyer ping pong
  • bird free zone
  • two flyers one base
  • or potentially develop new ones

Godstone Play Days Autumn & Winter 2012

An opportunity to plan ahead and book in your play times,..

This established play dates in Godstone is open to all. Come and share your day with a regular crew are all big kids looking for a laugh and an opportunity to play together safely and with joy.  We have the dates until the end of the year, so booking them in your diaries!

 

We plan on getting you into your bodies through a yoga asana sequence, encourage you to expand with partner stretches, discover your healing hands and feet through flying therapeutics, as well as find your acrobatic bodies with handstand practice and acrobatic balancing flows. Come with an open mind and continue the play.

This day will visit the foundations of acrobatic connections and transitions there by reinforcing the skills, strength and softness required for partner balancing and movement.  The  Bodhitrix cards will used through out the day.

Bodhitrix wild card jam night: An open jam where we will use the cards randomly and see what can done.  This will not be a lead class more of an impromptu play time.
